“What’s his name again? Wasn’t he the guy in that movie with the battle of the bands?” Now, while you're watching a movie on Google Play, you can find out that it’s Jack Black (of course!), who was born in Hermosa Beach and is 43 years old. And with one click you can search the web and learn the fun fact that his parents are both rocket scientists.

We’ve added info cards to the Google Play Movies & TV app so you can easily learn more about the actors, related films and even what song is playing in many of your favorite movies. When you’re watching a film on your tablet, simply press pause and cards will pop up with information about actors on screen. You can tap on an actor’s face to learn more about him, like his age, place of birth, his character in the movie, and his recent work, or scroll through the info cards to learn more about the movie or soundtrack. When you resume the movie, the cards will disappear.


This new feature is offered for hundreds of movies in Google Play and we’re adding more every day. If you’re in the U.S. and have a tablet running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and higher, download the latest version of the Google Play Movies & TV app to check it out. We hope to bring info cards to more movies in more countries and devices soon.

While the offline models are less comprehensive than their online equivalents, they are perfect for translating in a pinch when you are traveling abroad with poor reception or without mobile data access.

So go out and explore another language or another culture without worrying about Internet access. There’s a whole world offline out there.

Last week was a very, very busy week for me: it was the FIDM Debut Week/Weekend! As the Official Spokesperson for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM, I was honored to have been asked--once again--to host the FIDM Debut 2013 shows.






FIDM's annual DEBUT Runway Show attracts nearly 10,000 people over three
days and features designs by graduating students in FIDM's Fashion
Design and Theatre Costume Design Advanced Study programs, as well as
work from Interior Design, Digital Media, and Textile Design students.
The extravaganza concludes on the third night with the DEBUT Runway Show
& Gala, a scholarship fundraising event attended by industry
notables, FIDM Alumni, and fashion celebrities (that post will follow, of course!).



Here's my "FIDM 2013 Day One" Recap:



First up, hosting the Educators Luncheon at the Millennium Hotels Biltmore Downtown L.A. Hotel:







On Thursday afternoon--before the first Debut 2013 runway showing--I hosted the "FIDM Debut 2013 Educators Luncheon", an annual event organized by FIDM for eductacors/teachers across the country. I had a BLAST mingling with all the teachers from all over the U.S., doing some special "Nick Educators Luncheon Red Carpet" commentating, emceeing a panel of FIDM's International Manufacturing and Product Development/IMPD graduates/alumn, as well as emceeing a very informative and interactive game.

































FIDM Debut 2013 Day One Meet and Greet: After my hosting duties, I had the opportunity to do a "Nick Meet-and-Greet' in my very own tent outside the Barker Hangar to take photos and sign autographs... here are photos from my "Day One" FIDM Debut 2013 Meet-and-Greet:













 AWWW! One lovely girl who stopped by my "FIDM Debut 2013" Meet-and-Greet, began shakin' and (I think) cryin'!! I was about to start crying myself!! She was THE CUTEST!!! I felt like Justin Bieber. For a HOT Minute. Thank you.

Even though I was making the "Nikolaki Bow" at Fashion Week El Paseo 2013, my NIKOLAKI design partner David Paul, naturally, came with me (I cannot do ANYTHING without him). Of course, he wanted to make sure our gowns/collection were going to fit just right, be steamed perfectly, and all the accessories he chose, would be properly styled with the right model. Not only is he the co-designer of NIKOLAKI, he's also the stylist, and well, brains behind the madness (of me!).




















After a rehearsal/run-through of my emcee duties, it was time for the show--I was the last of all the FIDM Debut Graduates designers and here are some photos of my show/collection on the gorgeous L. A. Models models:
















































The show was a HUGE success and everyone LOVED it---both David and I were over-the-moon and happy with the fashion show, the models and yes, our gowns...







The following day, before leaving Palm Desert, I went back to the Fashion Week El Paseo 2013 tent to check out the runway stage installation of the "Sunnylands Chic" gowns....







I created a NIKOLAKI gown inspired by Leonore Annenberg and the Sunnylands Estate (Click HERE for all the fabulousness of the unveiling). The creations--mine as well as other fashion designers--were being shown in an installation on the Fashion Week El Paseo 2013 runway stage in the tent the following day, and naturally, I had to go:
