YouTube Tests New Mobile Site UI

YouTube tests a new interface of the mobile site. It's closer to the mobile app UI, it shows the description and the number of likes and dislikes, a red "subscribe" button and action buttons are placed below the video.

There are other changes: the new YouTube logo, the "hamburger" menu, bigger thumbnails, new font, gray background.

I was so excited to find out that on this month's Vanidades Magazine--one of the most popular Spanish-language women's magazines, in the "Momentos Vanidades" section in the back--there was a whole section on the "Vanidades Presents Magia de la Moda (The Magic of Fashion)" fashion show that I--along with my design partner David Paul--took part in--showcasing our latest NIKOLAKI collection as part of Funkshion Miami Beach Fashion Week...

NICK APPEARANCES.....FIDM San Diego Open House 2013 Special Appearance, A Photo Recap!

Hello FIDM San Diego Open House 2014: Nick Verreos and the FIDM San Diego Open House "sign girl"--LOVE her bandana headband and Lycra leggings outfit!

This past weekend I drove to San Diego with my NIKOLAKI design partner David Paul (who took A LOT of great pics in this post! Thank You David!!), for my "Special Appearance" at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM San Diego Open House. The FIDM Open House is a way for high school students--and post-graduates--to get to know the FIDM campus, meet Alumni, instructors and take a tour of the campus (amongst many other things!).

Welcome Back Nick: The lovely charcuterie and wine that "welcomed" me back to San Diego and the Kimpton Solamar Hotel

I arrived the night before my appearance and checked in to the wonderful Kimpton Solamar Hotel, located very near the college. The hotel was so classy in that no sooner I had hung my overnighter garment bag, there was a knock on the door; they had delivered a delicious "Welcome Back to the Solamar Hotel" spread of charcuterie, red wine and bottled water to my room: what a way to start my weekend in San Diego! Thank You Kimpton Solamar Hotel San Diego!

Soon after doing a "spritz-and-repeat" and outfit refreshner, David and I went to Island Prime Restaurant to meet David's mom, Conchita and sisters, Elise and Marisa who all reside in San Diego. David's mom had invited us for dinner at this very divine restaurant. The food was delicious:

But more importantly, the ladies ALL wore our NV Nick Verreos dresses. I. Love. Them. And need I add, they got a bunch of compliments on their outfits! Oh, and guess who was there as well: former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (yes, wearing his neck-brace!).

Google Play Services 4.2

The latest release of Google Play services is now available on Android devices worldwide. It includes the full release of the Google Cast SDK, for developing and publishing Google Cast-ready apps.

You can get started developing today by downloading the Google Play services SDK from the SDK Manager.

Google Cast SDK

The Google Cast SDK makes it easy to bring your content to the TV. There’s no need to create a new app — just incorporate the SDK into your existing mobile and web apps. You are in control of how and when you publish your Google Cast-ready app to users through the Google Cast developer console.

You can find out more about the Cast SDK by reading Ready to Cast on the Google Developers Blog. For complete information about the Cast SDK and how to use the Cast APIs, see the Google Cast developer page.

Google Drive

The Google Drive API introduced in Google Play services 4.1 has graduated from developer preview. The latest version includes refinements to the API as well as improvements for performance and stability.

Google client API

This release introduces a new Google API client that unifies the connection model across Google services. Instead of needing to work with separate client classes for each API you wanted to use, you can now work with a single client API model. This makes it easier to build Google services into your apps and provides a more continuous user experience when you are using multiple services.

UNDER THE GUNN.....Nick's Looks: A Mentor's Fashion Photo Gallery of Episode 3 "Under The Gunn"

On this week's episode of Lifetime Network's "Under The Gunn"--the challenge was to design a red carpet-worthy look based on "Hollywood Glamour". I gave some "Inside Dish" on the episode in my "Nick's Take" HERE. This post is about the fashion that I--as well as my fellow mentors--wore for that episode. For the first part of the episode, I donned a denim and satin lapel jacket from Zara, light purple dress shirt from H & M, purple skinny trousers from Topman, an Hermes silk pocket hankie and yes, my YSL "Johnny" boots.

"Under The Gunn" Side Tracked--during the filming of this episode--on THE SAME DAY!--I had an appearance scheduled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM in Downtown L.A. for an "Open House"--when students and their parents visit the campus to get to know a little more about the college...

FIDM Los Angeles Open House November 2013--As you can see, I am wearing the same outfit that I wore on this last episode of "Under The Gunn", and that is because I was filming the entire "Hollywood Tour Bus" portion the morning of my MC'ing appearance at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM.

Host With A Secret: Hosting the FIDM Los Angeles Open House 2013 Panel Discussion

I literally drove from Hollywood Blvd., (after our "Under The Gunn Hollywood Tour") to Downtown L.A. to make my scheduled appearance. Besides hosting an Alunni Panel Discussion, I also did a "Dad Fashion Show" plus took a bunch of photos with the attendees. And the whole time, I couldn't say ANYTHING about what I was filming. More System Gmail Labels

Back in 2007, I posted a list of shortcuts for system Gmail labels. For example, instead of searching for [issue in:inbox], you can use [issue label:^i.] or [issue l:^i]. Instead of searching for [receipt in:spam] or [receipt label:spam], you can use [receipt l:^s].

Mihai Parparita found other system labels and some of them don't have documented alternatives:

^g: muted conversations (just like is:muted or label:muted or label:mute)
^p: messages marked as phishing
^op: messages automatically marked as phishing by Gmail
^os: messages automatically marked as spam by Gmail
^vm: Google Voice voicemail messages (just like is:voicemail or label:voicemail)
^io_im: important messages (just like is:important)
^unsub: messages that include unsubscribing options. Gmail offers to unsubscribe on your behalf
^cff: messages from your Google+ circles (just like has:circle)
^p_esnotif: Google+ notifications

For example, you can find messages you've marked as spam by searching for [l:^s -l:^os] or [label:spam -l:^os]. From all the spam messages you exclude the messages automatically marked as spam by Gmail.

You can also restrict Gmail results to Google+ notifications: [Christmas l:^p_esnotif]. If you search for [l:^unsub] and mark a message as spam, Gmail will show this dialog and unsubscribe on your behalf if you click "unsubscribe and report spam". Use [l:^unsub -l:^p_esnotif] to exclude Google+ notifications.
